Brio came to us with no mousing credentials other than his mother was a barn cat. He withheld from us information about his ninja training and still startles us with lightening fast moves out of nowhere, like running sideways across the back of the couch and catching flies in midair. We assumed due to his wild background that he would be aloof but he has surprised us in that regard too. He loves to snuggle, read in bed, and even goes on walks with us and the dogs. Don't think from that he doesn't take his work seriously. Rathvinden has gone from being overrun with mice and voles, to barely a rodent sighting in the last year. He is also in charge of cardboard boxes and flashing appliances.

Raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Emily has always been an agent and activist for the Plant Kingdom, harboring refugee trees in abandoned barns before she was old enough to drink beer! She has been known to rescue desperate house plants and is a seed smuggler. She studied at Quail Springs Permaculture and came to Rathvinden almost a year ago to practice her craft and help build a farm.

Padawan is Emily's owner. When he found her she was lost and traveling the western United States learning the ways of the permaculture. He guided her to Rathvinden where she could settle down to practice her knowledge and continue her training. He enjoys watching over her and observing her development. Often he pretends that he is silly so that she will laugh and think that he is the pupil.

Otherwise known as Big Mama, Fiona knows about lots of things, farming not really being one of them, at least not yet, she's coming along however. Creator of an efficient carpentry form dubbed, 'farm style,' she does much of the farm's small repairs and projects without taking any measurements. If you visit the farm and come across some really strange ideas they are probably hers.

Pepi is the farm psychologist and David's emotional support animal. He is an expert skiier an snow angel artist. Born in the sheep country of central Wyoming, he gave up the occupation of his forefathers in order to help people with powder addiction.

Brian has magical powers and can control electricity. He uses his abilities for good helping us enormously with our buildings at the farm. He also possesses mad skills with hammers and power tools. One day we turned around and he had erected the Burning Girl, and she was even better than we had imagined. All this and he will work for eggs and carrots.

Master of the brood, Crazy Mama will give up everything to keep those eggs warm and hatch our tiny dinosaurs, even if not one of them is hers. She home schools and teaches every grade, from food pecking, to proper roosting. This year she raised her three nephews who later formed a gang and displayed some antisocial behavior. But that was not her fault because they were adults by then and old enough to make their own choices.

When Flash came to us he was a skinny young cock, unsure and gangly. We have enjoyed watching him flourish and gain confidence, growing into the regal protector he is today. Flash is a lucky man to have all the ladies to himself, but the privileges come with responsibility. He eats last, stands guard while the girls forage, breaks up squabbles between them, and alerts them when he finds any food. We have even seen him pick up a tasty morsel and place it down in front of one of the hens.

Milo is our shape-shifter and possesses the ability to take the form of inanimate objects she believes are useful to you. She is also good at barking, talking, cuddling, and has an imaginary friend with whom she conducts pretend wrestling matches. She never shirks duty as watchman, and is best friend to Padawan.
