December News
From the Field
December has descended on us with fury! We’ve battled sudden windstorms, snow, sleet, ice and rain! Luckily, all our hoop houses are still intact and standing strong! The warmer fall/winter temps have given us the extra time we needed to get our hoop beds composted and our tulip bulbs planted.
The sun was a welcome visitor as we covered our annual beds in compost from Happy Trash Can. It’s a reminder of why we grow flowers here—wild beauty, short seasons, and a whole lot of resilience.
What’s Blooming Now
The perennials (peonies, echinacea, baptisia, lilies, hydrangea, rudbeckia - to name just a few) are taking their winter slumber while storing energy for long summer days.
Evergreens are a winter highlight because, as their name suggests, they stay green forever! Cedar and juniper made an impressive showing in our holiday wreaths this year.
Tulips are planted and ready for their spring reveal!
Dried & curing
Lisianthus was a new favorite flower we added to our dried offerings this year
Peonies are a focal favorite we love including in our dried bouquets, wreaths, and arrangements

Behind the Blooms
Farming has never been for the faint of heart, and flower farming is no exception. As we celebrate the exciting update from Amaltheia Farm, we acknowledge the ongoing struggle for farmers to find relevance and profitability in today’s ever-changing economy. Our little farm does its best to resist the race to cut costs with chemicals and cheap labor. Instead, we work hard to maintain the health of the land and the people who cultivate it.
What we are learning:
Raising prices is necessary for growth
Selling to our friends and neighbors makes it possible to bring more beauty and goodness into the world!
Is it hard? Undoubtedly.
Is it worth it? Absolutely!

Our classes and workshops help us keep the lights on, crops watered, and our farmers fed! Join us to have fun, learn a little, and see what we’re all about!
