July in bloom

From the Field
The heat of July has brought on the blooms of all our favorite flowers.
Each flower typically has its season. We start spring with anemones and head into ranunculus and peonies. Next come the summer dahlias, echinacea, and rudbekia. Finally, lisianthus bring us into the fall. However, there was a week or two in early July when we had all of these focal flowers in bloom at the same time! We can thank the early heat for that!
What’s Blooming Now
We were lucky enough to have the extremely talented Alyssa Freese on the farm taking photos of the flowers and the crew in June. All the photos from this newsletter are from her collection. Luckily we still have the clematis in full bloom (Fiona’s pet project), snapdragons out the wazoo, dahlias showing off their colors, veronica adding color and shape, and much much more.

Behind the Blooms
Our all-female crew is still holding strong through the heat waves and thunderstorms. We’re harvesting more flowers than ever, sending dozens of bouquets out the door each week, building wedding buckets for brides and grooms, harnessing the power of our community volunteers, extracting bind weed from the fragile stems of our precious flowers, sharing our barn space with local creatives, and much more. This time of year is so full and exciting.
We hope to see you at the U-PICK!

We may be small but we’re also mighty!
