May + June Madness

May and June made a show on the farm!

From the Field

BUSY SEASON!

May and June are some of the busiest months on the farm. We’ve been busy seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting, designing, mowing, planning, and oh so much more!. There is always more to do and many things left undone. It’s a constant juggle of priorities with all hands on deck.

We were happy to share our love of flowers with everyone who purchased a garden box from us this year. We sold out so quickly that we’ll be sure to make more available for next year. We can’t wait to see the beautiful flowers you grow in your own backyard farms.

What’s Blooming Now

We saw the end of our tulips in May just as our ranunculus and anemones started to pop. Some of our favorite perennials are making a colorful entrance including lupine, columbine, and geum. Perennials are a practice in patience as it usually takes a year or two before they start producing enough flowers to harvest. We planted geum last spring and we finally received the fruits of that labor this spring. If you’re a member of our CSA (flower subscription) then you saw the beautiful pops of orange in your bouquets from all the happy geum we have been harvesting.

What’s New

In between the thunderstorms, burning heat, frigid nights, and chaos of spring, our crew found time to have fun and enjoy the beauty of working on a flower farm. We were joined one afternoon by a few volunteers who shared their weeding skills with us for a couple hours of digging in the dirt. We could tell they were our kind of people by the enthusiasm they showed in getting to the root of those pesky weeds!

If you think you’re also up to the task of root-finding and could use an afternoon or two soaking up the sunshine (or rain, wind, and cold like our most recent volunteers) then please respond to this email with your contact info and availability. Trust us when we say there are more than enough weeds to go around! As always, we pay with the most beautiful local flowers!

MERCH DROP!

Did you see our new merch??? We’re so excited to finally share our locally designed new logo (shout out to Madeline Thunder!!) with the world while launching our first bag drop. These totes are the perfect solution to all your shopping and carrying needs. You’ll see us using them to carry computers, snacks, notebooks, sweaters, flowers, gloves, and everything in between.

Behind the Blooms

We celebrated THREE Taurus birthdays in May!

Another year older and wiser too — HBD to Paige, Lily, and Lauren!!!

We still have a few more CSA (flower subscriptions) available for purchase. We’re getting close to selling out, so don’t miss your last chance to get flowers EVERY DAMN WEEK!! The rumors are true. Our flowers are pretty incredible. (see below for purchase options)

As always, thank you for your support, flower purchases, friend referrals, and belief in our little farm and what we’re doing.

We know it would be so much easier to just till the soil, hire cheap labor, and plant easy flowers. Instead, we’re committed to doing something different. We’re committed to paying our people a living wage, building up our ecosystem by using organic and regenerative practices, and supporting our community with events and workshops. We may be small but we’re also mighty!
